Strip Seals.

A strip seal is exactly what it sounds like: an elastomeric joint seal that’s placed in the form of a strip. While structural steel components keep the seal in place, a neoprene layer keeps water from infiltrating the joint.

Process

First, the components that hold the strip seal in place are installed on either side of the joint. Elastomeric concrete is then poured around the steel extrusions. Finally, the neoprene rubber seal is placed between the steel extrusions.

Benefits

  • Maintains the structural integrity of the joint
  • Relatively simple two-step installation process
  • Neoprene layer provides waterproof protection

Consider Strip Seals when

you’re looking to protect a bridge joint that is exposed to both heavy traffic and difficult weather conditions.
